About Us
Learn about how we help our clients.
Our Approach
The peer approach to recovery, embodied by our recovery residence and coaching services, has proven to be tremendously beneficial not only to those dealing with substance abuse challenges but a wide array of behavioral health issues including executive functioning disorders (ADHD) and depression.
Transcend New York believes that every person has a unique recovery journey, and we honor that with a boutique approach. Every client receives an individualized plan of care and a designated Care Coordinator. No two people are exactly the same, so why should their recovery journey or treatment plan be?

We at Transcend believe that while recovering from addiction or mental illness is important, recovery cannot be the only element. It must be accompanied by a concerted effort to rebuild our clients’ physical, mental, financial, and spiritual wellbeing, all of which together will help the clients strengthen their self esteem and confidence. This belief is why we maintain community partnerships with a variety of specialists, ranging from nutritionists to personal trainers to acupuncturists, as well as keeping in close contact with our clients’ personal clinical and non-clinical care teams.
Our Space
We occupy a 5-story brownstone on a quiet street with vaulted ceilings, modern appliances, and plenty of natural light. We have a beautifully manicured backyard, a fully stocked kitchen, and a multitude of common spaces for entertainment, coworking, eating, or simply hanging out. We’re walking distance from many cultural landmarks and beautiful nature walks, such as The American Museum of Natural History, Central Park, Riverside Park and Lincoln Center. Transcend is also a quick ten minute subway ride from Midtown Manhattan, so whether you’re catching a Broadway show, interviewing at The New York Times, or keeping an appointment with one of our clinical partners at NYC’s world class hospitals, you’re not far away.
Each bedroom has a private bathroom, high ceilings, and large windows with clear views of the local historic district. There is a maximum of 2 residents assigned to a room.
Our chef cooks seven meals per week, tailoring meals to dietary preferences and restrictions.

“We didn’t get sober to be miserable. This isn’t the end of the old life, it’s the start of a new one.”

Owner & Executive Director
Bix started at Transcend NYC in a frontline role and now serves as Executive Director, though his focus remains on individual clients and their daily experiences. He continues to coach clients one on one, staying grounded in the work that matters most—building trust, structure, and motivation. With a background in social work and care coordination, Bix brings a systems-level view without losing sight of the human stakes. He believes real recovery starts with community, and that consistency, accountability, and courage are the foundation of change.
At Transcend I’m most proud of: Our alumni program and how often they come back.

Partner & Director of Care Coordination
Ned coordinates with clients, their care teams, and families. He’s in the house and out in the field. He has more than 18 years experience in the world of recovery. Ned has a passion for helping those who struggle with substance use disorder and other mental health diagnoses. He was inspired to work in the field after his own personal experience living in a recovery residence, which made him believe people can recover and change their lives for the better. You might recognize Ned from film and television.

Program Director
Simon is largely responsible for the professional development of staff, activities and programming, staff oversight, and making sure the house is clean and stocked with everyone’s favorite snacks. After spending years working in the recovery field—learning what does and doesn’t work—he has made it his mission to bring a greater degree of professionalism and care to recovery residences in New York City. Simon believes very strongly in the transformative power of the work that Transcend New York does and in the dozens of people who make it happen.
